Chandigarh, April 20
The UT Administration on Tuesday announced that a complete lockdown would be observed in Chandigarh tomorrow in conjunction with Mohali in another attempt to break the infection chain which is taking a heavy toll of human life in the Tricity.
Tomorrow being a holiday on account of Ram Navmi, the Administration apprehended that crowding of temples and other religious places by devotees could give a further fillip to the spread of the virus. Hence, the decision to enforce a lockdown in the city.
The Administration is also of the view that a lockdown in Chandigarh alone will not be effective unless there is a lockdown in the Tricity because of the heavy traffic between Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. However, the Panchkula district administration has refused to impose a lockdown in the township.
