Selected students will also have an opportunity to further pursue their education at prestigious universities i.e. BITS Pilani, Amity University, IIM Nagpur

Recognising the achievement of Meritorious School students who make it to the Multi-National Company (MNC), Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Mr Aman Arora on Wednesday handed-over offer letters and laptops to 15 candidates here at Punjab Skill Development Mission’s office. These 15 students, who were selected for HCL’s Tech Bee Program, were chosen from six Meritorious Schools located in Mohali, Bathinda, Patiala, Sangrur, Ferozpur, and Ludhiana.
This initiative is part of HCL’s Tech Bee Program, which is designed for 12th-grade students who have completed their studies with Mathematics/Business Mathematics and are interested in pursuing a career in the field of Information Technology (IT).
Congratulating the students on their selection under the program, Mr. Aman Arora exhorted them to work-harder and stay focused to achieve the goal in life. Its your turn to prove your mettle and make your parents proud by be financially independent and successful in life, he added.
The Cabinet Minister impressed upon the HCL team to extend the employment guarantee program to other government schools too as Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led government is striving hard to make the youth of the state skilful so that they don’t have to face any problem in getting jobs.
Director Employment Generation, Skill Development & Training-cum-Mission Director PSDM Ms. Deepti Uppal apprised that the program consists of two main components. First, there is a 6-month Classroom Training (CRT) phase, followed by a 6-month internship. After successfully completing the program, the students will be recruited by the HCL and will also have the opportunity to further pursue their education with partial funding from HCL at prestigious universities including BITS Pilani, Amity University, IIM Nagpur, or SASTRA University, she added.
Notably, Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) has played a significant role in facilitating this initiative by entering into MoU with HCL Training Staffing Services Ltd. on March 2, 2023, for this employment guarantee program. PSDM is funding the fees for 200 candidates from Meritorious Schools in Punjab (full fee for the first 100 candidates and 50% of the fee for the next 100 candidates who are selected for the program).
Representatives from HCL Training Staffing Services Ltd. emphasised that this program will open up new opportunities for the youth of Punjab in emerging technologies. The selected students will have the chance to work on live projects at HCL during their internship, receiving guidance and mentoring from technical experts to help shape their careers.
The Principals of the Meritorious Schools and the parents of the selected students, who were present on the occasion, expressed their gratitude towards the Government of Punjab for providing support and opportunity.
