Chandigarh, May 21
Coronavirus claimed the highest-ever single-day toll of 12 lives in Chandigarh on Friday even as fresh cases of the infection maintained a downward trend. The city recorded 406 new cases of Covid in 24 hours.
With this, the death toll in Chandigarh has now reached 680 while the caseload has risen to 51382. There are as many as 5675 active cases of pandemic in the city.
According to a media bulletin issued here by the Administration, those who fell prey to coronavirus were aged between 50 and 85 years. Fresh cases of the infection were reported from different parts of the city and the villages surrounding it.
Meanwhile, a total of 790 patients have been discharged including persons from home isolation who have completed 10 days and are asymptomatic, as per MoHFW guidelines.
