In an ominous development, as many 10 persons succumbed to coronavirus on Wednesday. This is the highest ever death toll recorded in Chandigarh so far. The city logged 180 fresh cases of the infection in 24 hours.
According to a medical bulletin issued here by the UT Administration detailed the casualties as follows: A 46 year-old male, r/o Mauli Jagran, a case of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, tested COVID positive expired at GMCH-32 on Tuesday. A 53-year-old male, r/o Sector 46, a case of B/L community-acquired Pneumonia and SARI, tested COVID positive, expired at GMCH-32 on Tuesday. A 76-year old male r/o Sector 21, tested COVID positive, expired at PGIMER last week. A 75-year old male r/o Sector 38, a case of SARI, tested COVID positive, has expired at GMSH-16 on Wednesday. A 47-year-old male r/o Khuda Jassu, a case of IgA Nephropathy, Community-acquired Pneumonia and post-renal transplant, tested COVID positive, has expired at GMSH-16 on Tuesday. A 72-year-old male, r/o Sector 47, brought dead to at GMSH-16 last week tested COVID positive after death. An 82-year old male r/o Sector 15, a case of Diabetes Mellitus and ARDS, tested COVID positive, has expired at Fortis Hospital, Mohali on Monday. A 60-year-old female, r/o Sector 44, a known case of Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia, tested COVID positive, expired at GMCH-32 on Tuesday. A 69-year old female r/o Sector 40, tested COVID positive, expired at PGIMER last week. An 80-year old male r/o Sector 36, tested COVID positive, expired at PGIMER last week.
The new cases of coronavirus have been reported from different parts of the city and the villages surrounding it.
Meanwhile, a total of 255 patients have been discharged including persons from home isolation who have completed 10 days and are asymptomatic, as per MoHFW guidelines.
